The 22nd. Ibero-American Go Championship will take place during the 4th. Latin American Go Congress. This page provides all the necessary information to participate in this tournament. Date and Time slots:

  • Round 1: Saturday 8/10 at 09:00 a.m.
  • Round 2: Saturday 8/10 at 1:30 p.m.
  • Round 3: Sunday 9/10 at 09:00 a.m.
  • Round 4: Sunday 9/10 at 1:30 p.m.
  • Round 5: Monday 10/10 at 09:00 a.m.
  • Round 6: Monday 10/10 at 1:30 p.m.

Competition system

  • The McMahon system will be used in this tournament. The number of groups will depend on the number of participants that register.

List of Players of the Ibero-American Championship

  • Please verify in the list of players that you are correctly registered and that your rank is correct.
  • The rank must correspond to the one you have in your country or otherwise indicate your rank on OGS or KGS (whichever reflects best your level of play).

How to find the Pairings and the Standings Info

  • The pairings for the first, third and fifth rounds will appear on this page one hour before the start of the round. The pairings will also appear on a screen and/or a whiteboard in the Mediterranean Room of the COM building where the Congress is being held. An effort will also be made to send it by WhatsApp.
  • The pairings for the second, fourth and sixth rounds will appear as soon as all the results of the first, third and fifth rounds respectively have been entered.
  • Please check the list of pairings to know who plays black and who plays white.
  • Please check the list of pairings to know on which board your game will be played.
  • The Standings Info will be made available after each round once all results have been entered for the round. The StandingsInfo will also appear on a screen and/or whiteboard in the Mediterranean Room of the COM building.

Once your game is finished, you must complete and sign the Result slip of paper that you will be handed before the game begins. Once the Result slip of paper has been completed and signed by both players, the winner of the game must deliver it to the TD or one of his assistants.  

Tournament Conditions

  • Open to all players, of any nationality.
  • The Championship is played over 6 rounds using the McMahon system.
  • Game time: 60 minutes per player of main time and Canadian byo-yomi of 20 stones in 10 minutes.
  • Japanese rules. Games without handicap, with a komi of 6.5 for white.
  • Maximum tolerance time: 15 minutes. Players who do not show up within 15 minutes of the round start time will automatically forfeit the game for that round.
  • It is strictly forbidden to use Leela (or any other AI) during the course of the match.

Bye (IMPORTANT)

If a person is confirmed in the list of participants and, for some last minute reason, is not going to be able to participate in the Tournament, please inform the TD before 8:00 p.m. (GMT -3) on Friday, October 7. If the notification is not made and the participant does not appear for the first round, he/she will automatically be disqualified from the tournament.

The TD functions are:

  • Record the results of the games and determine the standings at the end of each round, including final standings.
  • Determine the pairings for each round.
  • Enforce the provisions of the regulations.
  • Settle any difference that may exist in the interpretation of the regulations and their application to specific cases.
  • Decide any issue not contemplated in the regulations.
